Why are we not supposed to eat rice on ekadashi

Ekadashi, a traditional festival that is celebrated on the 11th of

lunar Hindu calendar and it is mostly celebrated in Nepal and

India. Well on this occasion Hindu people fast to celebrate

their ekadashi tradition just like Muslims do in the month of

Ramadan but Muslims fast for the whole month of Ramadan

but this ekadashi tradition and its fasting is very different from

the Muslim Ramadan month and its fasting and it does not

have anything to do with Muslim or Ramadan it is a Hindu

tradition and festival. And just like any other tradition and

festival there are some rules and regulation for which every

individual has to follow according to their belief and to

celebrate that tradition. So according to Hindus scholars the

Hindu people are not allowed to eat rice on the festival of

ekadashi. Why this is so and why they can’t eat rice on

ekadashi in this blog post I am going to explain this topic in

 detail.

So the main reasons of why Hindus are not allowed to eat rice

on ekadashi occasion are mainly because of some scientific

reasons according the Hindu scholars. So Hindu scholars

believe that rice or grain can cause harmful and dangerous

effects on Hindu people body due to the position of the moon.

So the reason of why Hindu scholars give this conclusion,

they drive this conclusion from the scientific proven fact that

moon as its effect on water bodies during night. So the grains

or rice also absorbs water and if we meaning the Hindu

people eat it on that 11th lunar day according to Hindu

calendar than it will also impact our body as our body will also

contain fluids. So how much this conclusion is correct or is a

fact nobody knows it’s just a tradition and people follow it

according to their belief and that’s it.

Can we cook rice on Ekadashi?

Can we cook rice on Ekadashi

No, we can’t cook rice on Ekadashi as this tradition forbids

it and also the scholars of the Hindu community also say that

it’s not good to eat rice on the night of ekadashi as it is

harmful for human body and it will cause bad effects from

health point of view due to the position of the moon. And the

reason of why they say this is because they believe that rice

or grain can cause harmful and dangerous effects on Hindu

people body due to the position of the moon. So the reason of

why Hindu scholars give this conclusion, they drive this

conclusion from the scientific proven fact that moon as its

effect on water bodies during night. So the grains or rice also

absorbs water and if we meaning the Hindu people eat it on

that 11th lunar day according to Hindu calendar than it will also

impact our body as our body will also contain fluids. So that’s

the reason you can’t cook rice on the occasion of rice or grain

can cause harmful and dangerous effects on Hindu people

body due to the position of the moon. So the reason of why

Hindu scholars give this conclusion, they drive this conclusion

from the scientific proven fact that moon as its effect on water

bodies during night. So the grains or rice also absorbs water

and if we meaning the Hindu people eat it on that 11th lunar

day according to Hindu calendar than it will also impact our

body as our body will also contain fluids.

What should not eat in ekadasi?

What should not eat in ekadasi

Well during the ocaassion of ekadashi Hindus fast for one

night to celebrate it and this fast starts from the dawn of

ekadashi and it will go all the way to the next morning and

during this time period which is a few hours of that night

Hindu people are not allowed to eat or cook rice according to

their rules to celebrate ekadasi. And this rule is not limited to

rice Hindu people are also not allowed to eat garlic or onion

and also they are not allowed to eat non-vegetarian that is

meat containing recipes. And some of the Hindu people who

can’t follow these strict rules due to their health condition they

can have milk and fruits to maintain their health and also

 celebrate the occasion of ekadashi.

Can we eat chapati on Ekadashi?

Can we eat chapati on Ekadashi

Yes, you can eat chapatti as it is not a meat product it is just

made of flour and ghee so there is no restrictions on eating

chapatti. The things that you can’t eat on ekadashi are rice,

onion, garlic and things or a recipe that contains non-

vegetarian products or meat.

Can we sleep during Ekadashi fasting?

Can we sleep during Ekadashi fasting

Well there are two popular opinions about sleeping during

ekadashi fasting among the Hindu community. One side say

that it is not allowed to sleep during the ekadashi fasting and

the other side say that you can sleep during ekadashi fasting.

But if you ask my opinion on this than I will say as these

Hindu scholars refer ekadashi as a scientific tradition and they

conclude their verdict according to scientific reason. Then

sleeping is allowed during fasting as sleeping is a natural

process in human being and other living things. As no one

can resist the sleepy feeling when it comes and it will be very

unhealthy if someone stays awake during all day and all night

it is almost impossible for a normal human being unless

somebody is tired of his life and tries to take a risk of not

sleeping full day and full night and there are 100% chances

that he will fall on the ground on the next day due to

 tiredness.

Is it good to die on Ekadashi?

Is it good to die on Ekadashi

Well it is not written in any book of Hindu religion exactly but

some Hindu scholars say that it is a good sign to die on the

Ekadashi as they say that the departed souls attain the

moksha (a state in which the soul is reborn in a different state

according to Hindus). And also they say the soul is in the

hands of the divine if died on Ekadashi.so yeah dying on

 Ekadashi is good.
